Up

Our first official fly in
Saturday May 14th 2008.  It has been a long time coming but after a successful Buddy Day to get us warmed up we are staging our first official AMA sanctioned fly in.
As a result of a fun Buddy day we have picked up a few more members.  Our club is beginning to grow and our field is looking great thanks to the dedication and hard work of our members.
We expect the Coffeyville Journal to cover the event so let's get out their and do the kind of job we know we can do.
Looking forward to seeing all of you out their with all your planes.  We will have beverages and snacks.  Last word I got is David and Jon will be barbecuing.  Get out early Saturday morning and help us get set up.

Mowing Schedule
Our mowing team consist of Bob Merrit, Troy Stotts, David Liming, Jon Lewman, Ray Griswold and Larry Benning.
David likes to go out on Friday evenings and does a great job.  Jon and Larry both work during the week but are willing to pitch in on Saturday mornings.  After the fly in we will get together and work out a schedule for mowing the rest of the season.

New Sign
Our field has been officially names the "Coffeyville R/C Model Air Park".  Marty Frye has designed and created a great sign we plan to put up on the road to direct folks to the field.  Troy is building the frame and by the time this newsletter is posted the sign should be up.
It is really exciting to see how everything is coming together so nicely this season.

Web Site News
The web site has been updated and the Picture Gallery is growing.  The newsletter is being posted on the website at http://coffeyvillerc.com/newsletter for  the
convenience of those of you with internet access.

Letter from the president
Well May is half over. I would like to thank every one that helped with Buddy Day.  it was a big hit.

I would like to also like to thank every one  that has  been helping with the mowing and a big thank you to those of you who have helped with the cost.
Our field is really looking nice. I have had some good response from my pal next door that works at the plant about the appearance of our field.
Well our first fun fly is coming up fast. We need to kick it in gear and get going.
We have a plan in place and i think it will be a good fun fly.
Again thanks for all the work and help you have done
Also thanks to Larry and Jon for the work on the runway two weeks ago.
Troy got the sign and it looks real good. It looks like we have got a good field going so lets all help keep it clean.
Good flying! Hope to see you all out at the field      David Liming  President TAMA

May Meeting
Don't forget our meeting this Thursday.  This is a very important meeting.  We need to use this meeting to organize and plan the day.  .  Final mowing and trimming needs to take place on Friday and setting up for registration and food preparations on Saturday prior to 8am.
We will be barbecuing hot dogs and hamburgers and selling soft drinks.
We are raffling off a brand new RCM trainer so you may want to get into the drawing.
Addresses and contact information was gathered from the Model Aviation magazine and invitations sent out.  I was surprised to see how many of the chartered clubs addresses were not current so you will want to show up with your planes  if the turn out is low we still want to entertain the spectators.
The Coffeyville  Journal will be covering the event so bring extra planes if you have them.  If you have time to donate between now and then contact David 620-252-0399 or Troy at 620-251-1105. You may want to bring lawn chairs.  Now let's hope it doesn't rain.
